Media accounts in the aftermath of adolescent suicide often undercover bullying experiences in the student's life. These reports may leave educators and other adults wondering if the two issues are related and what, if anything, schools can do to prevent peer victimization and suicide. This session was offered to address these issues.
The presenters, Dr. Sue Limber and Dr. Mary Margaret Kerr, are experts in the fields of bullying and crisis prevention/response, respectively.
Their presentation addressed:
- The prevalence and relationship between bullying and suicide among school-aged youth
- Best practices in school-based bullying prevention and suicide prevention
- Current resources available to educators and schools
This session was hosted by the Center for Safe Schools with funding provided by the Pennsylvania Department of Education and the Highmark Foundation.
